ALONG THOSE LINES

Florida Atlantic University
Master of Fine Arts Exhibition 2021

Along Those Lines … close to what you remember … you’re not quite sure … shifting recollections of what was. Maps may fail and bloodlines don’t always lead where you thought they would, but the traces of both remain through the passage of time and across distance. The work within this exhibition explores surroundings, both geographical and psychological, and how they shape the memories and myths we combine to create personal histories. Kaila Rutherford explores the impact of place and time through cartography, shadows, ink pours, and collage, while Katie Prock revisits and rewrites family lore through photography, collage, and ceramics.

The 2021 annual Masters of Fine Arts (M.F.A.) exhibition features the work of Prock and Rutherford. Both have completed the requirements for the degree in Florida Atlantic University's Department of Visual Arts and Art History. An M.F.A. is the terminal degree in studio art disciplines and is designed to further the conceptual development, aesthetic presentation, technical skill, and career goals of M.F.A. candidates. This exhibition is a collaborative effort of the Department of Visual Arts and Art History and the University Galleries, School of the Arts, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters.
